Who is Janet?
I am Janet Francis the off spring of a proud and hard working Caribbean woman who became a widow at the age of thirty nine when she was left on her own to support her five little children. It was during my high school years when I realized how hard my mother worked to finance my education that I planted a stake for my future. At the age of twenty two I began my teaching career in a grade two-class as an untrained teacher.
Two years later I was given the 11 plus students to prepare for their entrance examination to high school. The results of this exam determined the students’ destiny. The school gained 100% success in the exam. One year after working with second year kindergartens at another school those five year olds eloquently recited the ‘Annunciation’ a complicated piece of choral reading. I was able to succeed in my position because trained and experienced teachers worked with and nurtured untrained junior teachers until they were accepted into Teachers Training College. In addition untrained teachers were mandated to attend weekly Saturday Classes. These were offered by the Ministry of Education in central locations in the island.
After teaching for seven years I migrated to Canada where I upgraded my education and was rehired in the teaching profession. I am now a retired teacher after thirty six years on the job. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree from Trent University, Two Bachelor of Education degrees from Mc Arthur College Queens University, and York University, Certification in Adult Education from OISE, (Ontario Institute for Studies in Education) and Master’s Degree in Curriculum from Mont Saint Vincent University in Halifax Nova Scotia. Although I have retired from the classroom I have not retired from my passion of inspiring and uplifting youth. Since retirement I have written about one dozen poems which focus on inspiring youth. Individually one article and one poem was published in the News Letter of the ONSAP Ontario Society for Adlerian Psychology. Presently I am a Passion Test Facilitator who is able to use a tool that was methodically developed to help adults, as well as Kids and Teens, to discover their passions.

Up Close and Personal:
To know Janet Francis is to appreciate my hearty loud laugh that comes from deep within my soul. I love to “lime” (socialize with friends and family), especially with my sister who is my biggest supporter. The majestic beauty of nature truly excites me especially when the restless winds sway the leaves to and fro while the cool calm water in the stream aimlessly winds its way along its chosen path. In the summer a smile spreads over my face when a bud unfurls only to reveal the true beauty of the whole flower. The seedling bursting through the soil to catch a glimpse of the morning sunlight also makes me smile. I enjoy travelling. A good book, like music to the ear, enchants me and yes, music lights up my life especially when I am enthralled by a theatrical production. Now you know that I do have fun in my life and being a Passion Test Facilitator for Kids and Teens adds even more joy to my life. Very early in my career I was told by a parent whose three sons I taught, ‘Miss Francis you were born’. Now I understand. Enlightened Youth, you too were born with unique gifts, talents and a purpose. Email Janet today.Work with her to begin the process of discovering your passions, rank them, and look for markers.
